OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The Oklahoma National Guard is looking for ways to help recruits make it through basic training.

The Guard says 38 percent of recruits drop out before completing training and the goal is to cut that number to 12 percent.

To do that the Guard is establishing the Recruit Sustainment Program to help the recruits understand their role in the National Guard and to show them what it takes to be a good soldier. It also helps the recruits focus on their Guard responsibilities while they get ready for basic training.
