Independence, Kansas Police and the FBI are still investigating a teenager's claim that she was kidnapped at gunpoint earlier this week.
16-year old Kelsey Stelting says the man approached her Tuesday morning in front of her home in Independence, Kansas. That's about 90 miles north of Tulsa.
Independence Chief of Police Lee Bynum held a press conference late Wednesday night. He's says the investigation has exhausted the police, FBI agents and Kelsey's family. But there are still plenty of unanswered questions. Chief Bynum says investigators were questioning Kelsey late into the evening.
He still couldn't comment on anything regarding the investigation. Bynum says FBI agents are still investigating this as a criminal case, but have not ruled out the possibility that this was a hoax. "All I can tell you is that we have not had any other reports. I can't say one way or the other right now.â€
Law officers plan a news conference at 1:30 PM regarding the case.
