KINGFISHER, Okla. (AP) -- Residents in a southwestern Oklahoma community who were evacuated because of wildfires are back at home.

Wind-whipped wildfires forced the evacuation of Cement in Caddo County Thursday and destroyed homes in at least one community.

There were no immediate reports of injuries with the fires, which were fueled by high winds accompanying a fierce storm system blowing through the region.

Authorities issued a mandatory evacuation order for Cement and traffic on US Highway 270 was diverted off the road because of blowing smoke. By late Thursday night, though, officials said the community's approximately 600 residents were allowed back in their homes.

In Kingfisher, northwest of Oklahoma City, a fire destroyed at least two mobile homes, damaged at least two others and forced the evacuation of a mobile home park.

Tyler Smith of the Kingfisher Fire Department says the blaze was under control.

Other fires were reported near the communities of Hinton, Reydon and Cheyenne, the later two in Roger Mills County, where a day-care center was evacuated.
