A new Oklahoma Poll from The News on 6 and the Tulsa World shows just days before the election Mayor Bill LaFortune's campaign is in trouble.
The Oklahoma poll questioned 500 likely voters. Almost half - 49 percent - say they'd vote for Democratic challenger Kathy Taylor. 34 percent say they'd pick LaFortune. Independents Ben Faulk and Paul Tay together tallied 3 percent. 14 percent of voters said they haven’t decided who will get their vote.
The mayor does lead Taylor on the question of "Personal Integrity". 42-percent of the respondents say LaFortune has it. 38-percent pick Taylor. Another 16-percent didn't pick either candidate.
Kathy Taylor wins on the question of "decisive leadership", 51-percent to Bill LaFortune's 31 percent. Again, 16-percent of likely voters are undecided.
On the question of who would work better with the city council, 50 percent of respondents pick Taylor. 26 percent go with LaFortune. 21 percent didn't choose either.
50 percent of those answering our poll say they trust Mayor LaFortune more to complete the Vision 2025 projects. Kathy Taylor got 31-percent. 16 percent didn’t know.
And on the subject voters say is the most important in this campaign, dealing with crime, 48 percent of voters answering our poll pick Taylor. 32 percent said Bill LaFortune would do a better job. 17 percent didn't know.
By the way, the News on 6 postponed Thursday night’s debate between LaFortune and Taylor because of severe weather coverage. The two will meet Friday and the News on 6 will broadcast that debate at 6:15 PM.
