Oklahoma firefighters have some financial relief.

After weeks of political maneuvering in the state House, the state Senate voted to give almost $9-million in emergency aid, mostly to volunteer firefighting units.

The bill is designed to replenish budgets through an increase in state grants and to replace equipment lost in wildfires.

Fires killed at least three people, damaged or destroyed more than 1,000 homes and scorched 560,000 acres.
