Sand Springs Police detectives are making progress in the hunt for three suspects who bound and beat a 70-year-old man and left him for dead in his home.

Albert McManus would not be alive if not for the persistence of his younger sister. News on 6 anchor Tami Marler takes an exclusive look, inside the crime scene.

911: "Sand Springs 911, what's the emergency?"

Caller: "Yeah, there's a man here who says his brother is in the house and he's on the floor and they can't get in. They can see him in the house. They say somebody beat him up.”

The call brought Sand Springs Police to Albert McManus' home in the 4200 block of Sunglo Parkway, and may have saved his life. "He told me this morning that if we hadn't of found him when we did, that he wasn't sure he'd have been here today." McManus' sister doesn't want to be identified, but she's the reason he's in a hospital intensive care unit, instead of tied up in the floor of his home. "Whenever I couldn't get a hold of him and nobody else knew where he was at, I figured he might be sick and couldn't get up or something. I never dreamed this would happen. It was just a shock.”

Her husband is the one who heard McManus' muffled cries for help. "Albert said he couldn't come to the door because he'd been beat up." He showed the News on 6 where his brother-in-law was found lying in the floor, the chair where he believes the three suspects bound and beat McManus, then left him for dead. "They tore the phone up, they tied him up and they took his keys and locked the door from the outside."

Amid the mess left behind, signs of McManus' poor health. Ravaged by lung disease, diabetes and a serious back injury, he could barely get around on his own. But that didn't keep the threesome from beating him, ransacking his home and stealing everything from prescription medications to cash.

"They took his money card and all of his checks. And they made him give his pin number, so they did have his pin number to his account." If the suspects are using McManus' cash card, most ATM machines are equipped with surveillance cameras. So the bank report will show the activity, and the camera will show the suspect. "I hope they catch whoever did it and prosecute 'em."

Sand Springs Police are looking for two men and one woman that must have known Albert McManus. McManus now recalls the suspects calling-out his name at the door. When he opened it, they forced their way inside.

McManus told his sister he believes it happened Thursday night. That means he was tied-up for five days, without food, water or the oxygen he's required to use every day.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sand Springs Police; their number is 245-8777.
