OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Attorney General Drew Edmondson says Oklahoma State University may be breaking the law by filtering open records requests through legal counsel.
The state's Open Records Act requires "prompt and reasonable" access, but students and faculty say requests can take days. Edmondson says routine requests should be filled in minutes.
The law allows for a delay if there is some question whether the record is open or if it would take time to track down a record or retrieve it from storage.
OSU spokesman Gary Shutt says the university is seeking additional open records training for its employees.
