The Tulsa Library Trust has selected as the winner of this year's Peggy V-Helmerich Distinguished Author Award.
Mark Helprin is the author of eight books and three children's books, many short stories and magazine articles, and a contributing editor to the Wall Street Journal. Among his titles are "Winter's Tale," "A Soldier of the Great War," and "Ellis Island and Other Stories."
The Distinguished Author award carries a $25,000 cash prize, one of the largest writing awards in the nation.
It will be presented to Helprin in December.
