OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Five hazardous materials response vehicles were given to six Oklahoma cities Thursday.
The cities of Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Lawton and Claremore received one vehicle while another will be shared by the cities of Moore and Norman.
The vehicles are 42-feet long and cost nearly $446,000 each and each will carry about $300,000 in equipment. They are self-powered and have a command center and satellite system.
They're being bought with money from the US Homeland Security Department and will be used to respond to natural disasters, hazardous materials spills or terrorist attacks.
Firefighters in the six cities will be trained in operating the vehicles.
