A benefit is set for a Sapulpa soldier who put a professional sports career on hold to fight in Iraq. Shane Vincent was critically injured after a roadside bomb hit his Humvee in May. The explosion killed another soldier in the vehicle and left Shane in a coma. Since the attack, Shane has been recovering at a Florida hospital.
Family members expect Shane to return to Sapulpa on Friday. He will be able to attend his own "Dinner With a Hero" event at the First Baptist Church of Sapulpa.
Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sapulpa's First Baptist Church at 200 S. Elm. Dinner will begin at 6 p.m. Those organizing the dinner say they are accepting donations for the spaghetti dinner.
Plans are to present Shane Vincent with a new Dodge truck, a Suzuki ATV, and a check.
