Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor took to the sky on Sunday afternoon to assess the damage across the hardest hit areas of Kendall Wittier, Florence Park and north Tulsa areas. Mayor Taylor says she could really see how difficult it would be for power crews to reach areas around 56th Street North in Tulsa where power poles were snapped in two.
"Just because the streets are clear and we can drive doesn't mean we're not still in a disaster time. We've got more than 50,000 people still without power and estimated 10,000 people will not be powered up until we can get those weather heads repaired," said Mayor Taylor.
Mayor Taylor says without the work of volunteers and intervention of the state many would be without power well into the New Year.
