Some Want To Ease HB 1804

A law that cracks down on illegal immigrants in Oklahoma may be losing some of its support, even among Republican leaders who voted for it. House Bill 1804 became law on November 1st. It denies driver's licenses and most public services to illegal immigrants. It also makes it a felony to transport, conceal and harbor them.

Some state lawmakers, who supported the law, now call it the wrong approach and say it should be softened. But, the law's main author, Representative Randy Terrill, wants to make it even tougher.

He wants to make English the official state language and allow authorities to seize property of anyone convicted of violating House Bill 1804.
