A couple metro restaurants wanted to support those on the front lines of this pandemic. Othello’s Italian restaurant along with the Baked Bear in Norman delivered several meals to the staff at Grace Living Center.
“We wanted to do our part and partner with businesses in the community to be able to give back,” said Jennifer Dennis, Co-Owner of Othello’s Italian Restaurant.
With Grace Living Center greatly impacted during this crisis, those in Norman wanted to lend a helping hand. Dennis along with others wanted to find a way to support the nurses and other staff members who have worked long hours over the last few weeks. They decided to make 40 box lunches and drop it off at the centers front door.
“We love to give back to our community and when Jennifer reached out to me on Saturday and asked if we would be willing to help with these lunches I was like yes,” said Katelyn Howard, Manager of The Baked Bear.
The Baked Bear is located on Campus Corner not far from Othello’s. Howard said opportunities like this is what this community needs.
“It honestly just makes my heart melt. I have friends and family who are nurses and not getting to see them during this time, I know is really hard for me,” said Howard.
Katelyn and Jennifer both said they plan to continue to give back as much as possible while this pandemic continues. They said the impact this virus has brought to the community is overwhelming.
“It’s pretty hard on this community because Norman is such a tight knit community and to have one of our retirement centers have so many confirmed positive cases, it opens everyone’s eyes,” said Dennis.
