People in various cities are wondering if they can expect a mask mandate in their city.
Mayor Robert Lee said despite the City of Tulsa having a mask ordinance, he feels there are not enough cases to have that discussion in Jenks.
Mayor Lee said he supports Mayor G.T. Bynum and the Tulsa City Council for mandating masks to help slow the spread of COVID-19 in Tulsa; however when it comes to Jenks, Lee said there are different factors such as, a much smaller population and significantly fewer COVID-19 cases. There are currently 28 coronavirus cases in Jenks, as of July 16, 2020.
Mayor Lee said even though there is no mask mandate, he strongly encourages everyone in Jenks to still wear one when in public.
"I'm very supportive of mask wearing. I think people should be wearing masks if they're out in public; I've been doing this and expecting people around me to do the same," said Lee.
Mayor Lee said a mask mandate is not off the table indefinitely. Some businesses around Jenks said they're prepared if a mask mandate is ever approved.
