The fifth day of digging for possible mass graves related to the Tulsa Race Massacre is expected to continue July 17 at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Scientists said they are optimistic even though they’ve only searched a portion of the area.
The team said they’re continuing to dig toward the south end of the cemetery and are planning to use a coring truck. They said they will place cores into the ground, which will help determine where the ground’s surface was in 1921.
Depending on how the day’s work goes, the team might be back Saturday and they already plan to continue work Monday.
