Broken Arrow Family Mourning After 9-Year-Old Dies In Crash

A family is grieving after a 9-year-old girl from Broken Arrow was killed in a crash which also sent her mom to a hospital.

"Just I just can't imagine nine birthdays, nine Christmases, nine years of all those memories all the sudden ripped away," said Heather Jackson.

It's news Heather Jackson still can't process: the death of her cousin Wesley's child, 9-year-old Avery Reynolds.

"She loved the outdoors, she loved her big brother and her mom, she was a happy girl all around," Jackson said.

Avery died Wednesday in a three-vehicle crash involving a semi and an RV on I-40 in Yukon.

Jackson said mom Lisa is still in serious condition at a hospital.

She said Avery's 11-year-old brother Aiden was also in the car but is now at home recovering from minor injuries.

Troopers said the cause of the crash is still being investigated, but they said the truck driver was sleepy at the time.

They said the drivers of the semi and RV aren't seriously injured.

"It's something that is unimaginable, that you can't begin to fathom unless you're personally going through it," Jackson said.

Jackson said Avery was a student at Vandever Elementary in Broken Arrow. She said Avery loved fishing with her dad and brother, and always had a big smile on her face.

"She was just a loving person; she loved everybody and was so happy," said Jackson.

Jackson started a fundraiser for her cousin and his family. She said she knows everyone is strapped financially during COVID-19 but is trying to help in any way she can to lessen the burden.

"Wesley and Lisa, we are praying for you guys and thinking of you always," Jackson said.
