The Tulsa Police Department posted a video from Officer Aurash Zarkeshan on Friday morning.

In the video, Zarkeshan spoke about his recovery efforts and how grateful he is for the Tulsa community after he was shot during a traffic stop almost two months ago.

Zarkeshan was one of two Tulsa Police officers shot during a traffic stop in June. Tulsa Police Department’s Sgt, Craig Johnson was shot as well and died from his injuries.

On Friday morning, Tulsa Police posted a video of Zarkeshan sitting in a wheelchair on their Facebook page. The recovering officer says he is able to walk and stand comfortably now, his therapists say he is making progress, and he is scoring very well on his cognitive tests. Zarkeshan says he is so thankful for Tulsa’s support.

“Hi Tulsa, I wanted to give you an update on my recovery, my therapists say I’m progressing very quickly. I’m able to walk and stand comfortably now. I’ve also scored very well on many of my cognitive tests,’ Zarkeshan says.

Through various fundraisers and events over the past two months, more than $600,000 has been raised for the two TPD families.

“I feel very lucky to have such an amazing community support, thank you all for everything you have done for me and my family, it’s been outstanding,” Zarkeshan says. “Me and my parents greatly appreciate everything you’ve done for us.”
