Broken Arrow police have arrested a man for child endangerment after he was involved in two car crashes within 20 minutes of each other.

According to Broken Arrow police, Tyler Derman had two kids in the car when the crashes happened.

Witnesses told police that Derman went into 5th Gear Cycle last Wednesday to inquire about a job, leaving two kids in the car for about 15 minutes while he was inside.

When Derman returned to his car witnesses said he put it into gear and rolled forward, hitting one of the building's brick pillars.

Witnesses said Derman proceeded to fall asleep, so they called police.

When Derman woke up they said he tried to leave but hit a parked car in the lot.

Police tried to conduct a field sobriety test but didn't finish it because Derman was not able keep his balance.

The children's mother who is a co-owner of the car with Derman agreed to let police search it.

According to Broken Arrow police they found a syringe and two spoons with a burnt residue in the center console.

The children's mother told police that Derman used heroin.

Derman was arrested for DUI and child endangerment.

When police took him to the hospital for a drug test he informed officers that he'd taken a Xanax pill before driving to 5th Gear Cycle.

Police then took Derman to the Broken Arrow Jail before transferring him to Tulsa County.
