Victory Christian takes the short drive to Metro Christian in a special Thursday night edition of our Tulsa Tech Game of the Week, where the winner will be in the driver’s seat in the district race.
The Conquerors have a little thunder and lightning in store for the Patriots.
The stakes couldn't be any higher for tomorrow night’s district match up for Metro Christian and Victory Christian, as both teams are 3-0 in 2A-7. For Victory Christian, the focus isn't necessarily on the Patriots.
"We try and not focus on what other people are doing,” Victory Christian Head Coach Ben Palmer said. “What we do is what sets the bar and we don't try and chase other people."
Victory Christian has a one-two punch in the backfield with brothers Judah and Solomon Byram. It’s a perfect combo, some even say it’s like thunder and lightning. Whatever it is, they both feed off one another when they're on the field.
"They are both better than I ever thought they were going to be,” Palmer said. “One’s better than one in one way and the other one is better in a different way; they have weapons that they are good at."
Just like typical brothers, pushing and competing against other is always on the table. Right now, older brother Solomon has 12 touchdowns to Judah's seven, and Solomon makes sure little bro knows it.
"Try and outrun me, get coach to start him more, but you know that’s not going to happen cause I'm still here,” Solomon said.
All kidding aside, the brothers want the best for each other
"It’s really cool that we both get to be in the back field at the same time because we are a like a double threat,” Judah said. “He’s a really good back and if I'm doing just as good as him, I'm doing great."
"I love him a lot I would do anything for him,” Solomon said.
