A Downtown Tulsa bar is reopening after being closed since mid-July due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Valkyrie, a bar located at East Reconciliation Way and North Boston Avenue, reopened over the weekend after being closed for nearly 4 months after the owner felt it was no longer safe to stay open during the pandemic.

According to the owner, Aaron Post, they have received pandemic relief payments over the last few months helping the bar stay afloat and while he is happy to have the doors open again, Post said they were running out of options financially.

"I felt like we don't really have much of a choice. Everyone's unemployment has run out and short of just writing checks to the staff so they don't get evicted, we had to figure out something," said Post.

According to Post, they have implemented extra cleaning protocols, placed hand sanitizer throughout the bar and have added outdoor seating to accommodate.
