Winterfest 2020 at the BOK Center is scheduled to kick-off after a 10-day delay due to COVID-19 case numbers rising in the Tulsa area.

The event officially begins on Monday at 5 p.m. with an opening ceremony and Christmas tree lighting. The festival was originally planned to open on November 11, but Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum asked people to “take it easy through the Thanksgiving holiday”, putting Winterfest on a 10-day hiatus out of caution.

Winterfest is free to attend, but for those planning on skating, tickets must be purchased online ahead of time and no cash or checks will be accepted at the venue this year. The skating rink is located inside the BOK Center this year since it is a much larger space than the outdoor rink that has sat near South Denver Avenue and West 3rd Street in previous years. Winterfest employees will be keeping track of how many people are inside at once in order to maintain low crowd numbers.

Masks are required at the event and physical distancing measures have been put into place in many areas.

Winterfest is open every evening through January 3 however organizers urge attendees to check online beforehand as some days are reserved for private events.
