A Green Country widow is heartbroken after she said someone stole her husband's ashes from her storage unit.

Dusty Tyler said when she met her husband Shannon, she knew he was her soulmate.

"The love of my life. We have a beautiful 8-year-old daughter, and I see him every day when I look at her,” Dusty said.

Dusty said on Father's Day in 2018, Shannon lost his battle to pancreatic cancer at age 48.

She said the past two years have been incredibly hard on her and her young daughter, but they've been getting through it.

They moved from Joplin to Hominy to live with family, and Dusty rented a storage unit there in February. She said over the weekend, she went to clean it out because they recently moved to Glenpool.

"I pulled up the gate and all I saw were papers and puzzle pieces envelopes and empty boxes," she said. "All of my stuff was gone."

She said the lock had been cut. All her Christmas decorations and sentimental items, like a guitar Shannon gave her daughter, were stolen, too.

Dusty said the worst of all, the urn holding Shannon's ashes was also taken.

"I don't care about the materialistic items. I want the ashes back," she said.

Dusty said this year has been hard enough on her family, and she prays that somebody will do the right thing and bring her items back for the holidays.

"They are irreplaceable, and my daughter is devastated," she said.

Dusty said she filed a police report with the Hominy police department. She said many other people have reported break-ins at their storage units as well.
