More Oklahomans Are Buying Christmas Trees Early

Business is booming at an Owasso Christmas Tree Farm this year, and the owners believe the pandemic is the reason for the increased sales.

To many people, the sound of a saw cutting down a tree brings back feelings of nostalgia and comfort. 

“It’s what I used to do with my mom when we would come out here, so it’s just fun. For the family to come out here," said Adam Miller.

Miller is out at the Owasso Christmas Tree and Berry Farm with his wife and their two little girls picking up their tree. Their family tree is one of thousands ready to go this Christmas season. 

“It’s a family tradition and people that came last year, a lot of them we’ve talked to that was their first year and they’re back this year which is really nice to know," said Bill Jacobs.

Jacobs and his wife, Paula, have been planting, growing, and selling pine Christmas trees since 1988. He said they anticipated a higher demand for real trees this year. 

“Anytime we have a disaster or some kind of a pandemic in the United States people go back to things that make them feel warm and comfortable and family and the house and all that and the real Christmas tree," said Jacobs. 

He said each year people out come to pick out their trees early, but this year is looking to set records.

He said the demand is so high they planted an additional 500 trees this year so families can enjoy the comfort of a real tree this Christmas season. 

“I know it’s been a big thing for us just to have an actual tree instead of going to you know get one at Walmart and get a fake one. We like to get a real tree," said Miller. 

Jacobs said they still have plenty of trees ready to be picked up this holiday season.
