Tulsa Public Schools district leaders say that the increase in COVID-19 cases will impact attendance for basketball and other winter sports as they begin the season.

According to the district's athletic director, indoor activities have created more concern than outdoor sports

The district's new rules say only parents of seniors will be allowed at the basketball games and wrestling meets for the time being and no fans will be allowed at swim meets due to a lack of space.

TPS Athletic Director Gil Cloud said that the initial plan was to keep winter sports attendance at 25%, but the recent spike in COVID-19 cases has caused them to change the plans.

Cloud said that it is important for parents to remind their children to follow COVID-19 guidelines and keep tabs on how they have been spending their time.

According to Cloud, some games will be lived streamed to allow parents of underclassmen to watch.
