The economic development team in Claremore announced that three new businesses are coming soon while an existing business is expanding. The team said this is apart of an effort to make the city a competitive market.
In the last six weeks, the Claremore Industrial and Economic Development Authority announced a variety consisting of Aldi’s, Burkes Outlet and Wendy’s will soon be opening across Claremore. It was also announced the existing Atwood’s would be expanding into a bigger and better location.
Meggie Froman-Knight, Executive Director of the Claremore Industrial and Economic Development Authority, told News On 6 they are always assessing data and trends to see what is in the best interest of the people of Claremore. She said they also work to brand the city as a competitive market.
Froman-Knight said despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the city reported an increase in sales tax revenue. Adding new businesses is another step to keep tax revenue in Claremore.
“Having those numbers and showing that our strategy and our approach is working means that we’ll continue alongside that and hopefully continue to see Claremore grow and enter into an even stronger market than we were before,” said Froman-Knight.
Froman-Knight said more announcements will come later this year and much focus will be on existing businesses and sectors that are relevant to Claremore.
