Tulsa firefighters said three people, including a 95-year-old woman, are safe after their house caught fire.
Firefighters said the fire started in the basement then spread to the main floor. Crews said they are thankful everyone was able to wake up and get out because there were no working smoke detectors in the house.
Tulsa Fire crews said they got a call about a house fire just after 7:30 a.m. Saturday morning near Latimer and Denver, and when they got there, smoke was pouring out of the home.

As they were driving to the house, they learned about an elderly woman who was still stuck inside the home. Crews said the woman’s son and another man were able to get her out of the house to safety before firefighters got there.
Firefighters said the fire quickly spread to the main floor, but crews put it out. Crews said they want people to know that working smoke detectors save lives and that’s why it is so important to have them in your home.
“The fact that the fire grew so fast and there was not a fatality or someone severely burned is absolutely amazing,” said Captain Justin Flake with TFD.
The Tulsa Fire Department said they will install smoke detectors in anyone’s home for free. All you have to do is call the fire department.
