The Indian Health Care Resource Center of Tulsa is holding vaccination events for those ages 18 and up who would like to receive their first dose. They are the latest organization to offer COVID-19 vaccines to anyone who wants one, but you do have to schedule an appointment, you cannot just walk in on the day of.
The IHCRC is holding two clinics a week with 150 vaccine appointments each of the two days. They do their scheduling by phone ahead of time and sometimes their website if directed. If you do not have an appointment you will not be let inside since they do not accept walk-ins.
The clinic on Tuesday at Tulsa VFW Post 577 is full, but there is another clinic on Thursday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. that has just a few spots open still. The clinic is being held in the Post’s auditorium space.
All participants are asked to park in the Indian Health Care Employee parking lot right beside the VFW. Clinic officials say there will be signs pointing you in the right direction. They are asking everyone go online to fill out the paperwork ahead of time to make things go quickly and smoothly.
The Resource Center’s Debbie Starnes said the appointments are filling up fast, which is a great thing.
“It’s been a phenomenal experience to watch people return to life so I don’t know what else we can say but it’s tiring for us but we absolutely love it,” Starnes said.
She said they will be holding these clinics every week and you can schedule your appointment by phone each Monday of the week you choose. Scheduling is not done until the week of in order to keep things as organized as possible.
