Thursday is the final day to register for the Muscogee (Creek) Nation’s COVID-19 vaccine event this weekend. The event is by appointment only and no walk-ins will be accepted.
On Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Department of Health will partner with Indian Health Service to hold a large vaccination event for anyone 18 and older who wants to get their first dose. Second doses will not be administered, the event is a first-dose only clinic.
To register, visit the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Department of Health website to sign up for your dose. Each person attending the clinic must individually sign up. For those who do not have internet access, appointments can be made by calling the scheduling hotline at 918-758-3601.
Medical staff will be on site to manage the four-lane drive-thru clinic with 16 people administering the vaccinations and several others working to assist in the process.
Shawn Terry, the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Secretary of Health said in a statement, “We have administered nearly 21,000 first and second doses of COVID vaccinations to healthcare employees, frontline workers, Muscogee elders, citizens and high-risk patients. We are pleased to partner with IHS to make an additional 4,000 vaccines available to a broader population."
This clinic, which is open to all, will come just hours before the Oklahoma State Department of Health opens the vaccines statewide to anyone in phase four, which is the general public. The OSDH announced Tuesday that any Oklahoman wanting a vaccine can begin receiving their doses Monday, March 29.
