100-Year-Old Bartlesville Woman Returns Home After Battling COVID In Hospital

Just to make it to 100, Marion Wilkerson lived through a lot and she plans to see 101 this August, regardless of the pandemic.

A 100-year-old Tulsa woman returned home Thursday, after 100 days fighting COVID-19 in a rehabilitation facility. Wilkerson recovered at Adams Parc in Bartlesville. She said she's eager to return home to her cat, and her friends, and hopes to get back to church soon.

Wilkerson will turn 101 in August. She her siblings, her husband, and her children have all survived COVID-19.

"I'm still weak, but I'm so much better. I still can't move as good as I used too," said Wilkerson.

Her knees were a problem before December, when she got COVID, but after that fight, she was determined to walk out of rehab.

The staff that cared for her for three months applauded as she left and marked another milestone for them: she is the last COVID patient in their care.

"Every day we just tried to encourage her to do a little more," said Jenni Brewer, a Physical Therapist.

"I think it was the motivation and spunk she had. She was determined to go home. We're so blessed to have known her and been able to help her," Sarah Brown, an Occupational Therapist, said.
