More Than 180 WPX Employees To Be Laid Off Due To Merger

More than 180 WPX employees will be laid off due to the company’s merger with Devon Energy. Those layoffs will start Friday.

Company leaders said some of the employees will be offered new jobs in Oklahoma City if they’re willing to relocate but didn’t give any exact numbers.

The merger was announced last year and finalized in January.

WPX was in the middle of building a new headquarters in downtown Tulsa when the deal was announced. The company said the building will still be completed.
