Green Country Teenager Back Home After Months-Long Battle With COVID-19

A Green Country teenager is back home Sunday after battling COVID-19 in the hospital for three months. 

Journey Clark, 15, is now home with her family in Salina. 

"I'm getting used to it,” Clark said. “It's kind of weird.” 

Clark tested positive for COVID-19 in January. A few days later, she went on a ventilator in the Pediatric ICU at St. Francis Hospital. 

Journey's mother, Katrina Morgan, said she never expected this to happen to her daughter. 

"It (COVID-19) doesn't care who you are. It doesn't care where you're from,” Morgan said. “It hits everybody hard and, some people, it hits harder.” 

Morgan said Clark is still doing breathing treatments and working on physical therapy, but she's getting better each day. 

Morgan said the doctors and nurses at St. Francis saved her daughter's life. 

"You go and put your complete faith in these complete strangers that you've never met, whisk your child away down a hallway and all you can do is trust in those people and trust in God," Morgan said. 

Morgan said the family could not have made it through the past few months without the prayers and support they received. 

Clark said she's thankful for the doctors and her family who supported her. She’s glad to finally be back home. 

"I get to spend time with my family and my dog and my animals," Clark said.
