Strangers helped family pull off a surprise for a Tulsa five-year-old who won’t be at her Pre-K graduation because she’s leaving town for cancer treatment.

They sent the girl off with a parade and a party – and it was all donated.

Kodi Walker looks like your typical five-year-old, but she's been through more than the average adult.

Friday, a parade of cars lined North 36th Street in Tulsa, leading to Kodi’s party.

"I loved it so much," said Kodi.

The Deborah Brown Community School student got an early celebration since she'll miss her pre-K graduation. Kodi’s mother, Nabrai Lyons, told News On 6 she and her daughter will spend a few weeks at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Tennessee. Kodi had two rounds of chemo there before.

At just two years old, Kodi was diagnosed with Wilm's tumor, a kidney cancer that develops in children.

"I try my hardest to keep it all together, but tough, it is,” said Lyons.

People at the party said seeing Kodi's smile is inspiring.

Kodi got a party fit for a princess, decorated in her favorite colors and beautiful dresses.

"Thank you for your kindness," said Kodi.

Dozens of family, friends and Kodi's teacher said her accomplishments are worth celebrating.

"I just want her to know she's loved and that everything's alright,” said Lyons.

The icing on the cupcake was that a stranger, Letha Smith, planned this party.

"I just felt so compelled,” said Smith. “She's five years old and when I met her, she was so bubbly, so happy."

Smith said she made some calls, and the community stepped in to help: Catering, the venue, even the DJ all donated their services.

"I'm really glad and grateful for everyone that came out and supported her, it really means a lot to us, both of us," said Lyons.

Lyons told News On 6 her family does not have a fundraiser or donate site set up, but they would appreciate prayers.
