A group of local faith leaders said it is raising $100,000 for reparations to the remaining survivors of the Tulsa Race Massacre. They’re calling on the city to follow suit.
“Some people think, ‘well white people need to pay reparations.’ This isn’t about white people paying reparations, it’s about the City of Tulsa paying reparations,” Rev. Dr. Marvin Lavanhar of All Souls Unitarian Church said.
Tulsa Metropolitan Ministries said the money raised will also be used for ongoing restoration work in the Greenwood district.
The group is asking for donations from its members but said anyone can contribute.
