Driver Arrested After Leading Sperry Police On Chase In Stolen Vehicle

A man is in custody on Wednesday morning after Sperry police say he led officers on a chase in a stolen pickup truck.

According to police, it started after officers attempted to stop a stolen pickup truck around 2 a.m. on Wednesday. Police say the driver refused to stop and fled from officers on Highway 11.

Officers say they tried to use stop sticks, but the driver continued on to Highway 20 near US-169.

Police said the man eventually ended up getting the pickup stuck on a dead-end road on 146th Street North near the Caney River. The suspects then got out of the vehicle and attempted to flee the scene on foot.

Officers were able to catch the suspect after deploying a K9 unit.

The man was checked out by EMSA and taken into custody.

Police have not yet released his name.
