A group of neighborhood kids in Tulsa now get to play baseball almost every day after a father and his son mowed a baseball diamond for everyone to enjoy.

Tucked away in a Tulsa neighborhood, a homemade baseball diamond is bringing kids of all ages up to home plate.

“He said, 'Dad, can we take your mower down? We can make a baseball diamond," Scott Veitch said.

Veitch said his son Cash and some kids would play ball down by a retention pond. Over the weekend, Veitch mowed a diamond and used spray paint to give it the appearance of a real baseball diamond.

“We paced off a field and started cutting it, and it came about," Veitch said. "They are out here every day since.”

So far, it’s been a home run.

Cooper Peters is warming up to pitch. The incoming eighth grader said he and his friends are loving every minute.

"Yeah, it's been pretty fun," Peters said.

Seventh grader Pierce Brann plays baseball as often as he can but said it’s even better to do it with his best friends.

“I was like, ‘Wow. This is really cool to get to play baseball all summer now,’" Brann said.

"With today's other influences, good clean, summer fun is perfect," Veitch said.

Whether they’re striking out or running to home plate, the boys of summer hope this new field stays here all summer long.
