Tulsa Police said a man was taken to the hospital after running away on foot during a traffic stop early Wednesday morning. Police are still trying to figure out why the driver decided to flee.
Officers said they tried to pull the driver of a white van over around midnight near the intersection of Admiral and Sheridan. Officers said the driver pulled into the parking lot of a nearby restaurant but did not cooperate during the stop.
Tulsa Police said the man ran away on foot onto the eastbound lanes of I-244. According to police, he made it onto one of the ramps but was tackled and taken into custody, according to Tulsa Police.
Officers said the man had no warrants, the car was not stolen and there was drug paraphernalia in the car, which likely would have only been a misdemeanor. The man was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
Police said the driver is now likely to face traffic violations and other misdemeanors. The name of the man has not been released.
