Tulsa police are searching for a suspect involved in a shooting at an apartment complex near East Admiral Place and 129th East Avenue on Tuesday morning.
It was initially reported that Tulsa police were engaged in a standoff with the suspect, however after officers were able to enter the apartment, it was discovered that the suspect was not there.
According to police, it all began around 10:45 p.m. Monday at the East Central Village Apartments. Police said two men got into an argument in the parking lot of the complex and then one of them got out a gun and started shooting.
Police said the gunfire hit a nearby truck with a 13-year-old boy inside. The boy, who was shot in the leg, was then taken to the hospital by a woman driver who was already inside the truck at the time of the shooting. Police expect the victim to recover from his injuries.
According to police, witnesses told officers that the suspect ran to his apartment, and that is where he was believed to be, as officers waited outside for nearly 7 hours.
Officers on the scene were waiting for a search warrant to be able to move in on the suspect. After police made entry into the home it was discovered that the suspect was not there.
Police say they are currently unsure how or when the suspect fled from the apartment.
Crime and gun units are now on scene investigating the apartment.
