Okmulgee police are investigating after a shooting sent one man to the hospital on Thursday evening.
According to police, officers were dispatched to a shots-fired call in the area on West 3rd Street and North Taft Avenue around 8:30 pm. on Thursday night.
When officers arrived on scene, they found an abandoned older model Lincoln Town Car parked at the intersection. Officers say they found blood smeared on one of the doors of the car, a blood trail and bullet casings.
Police said that while officers investigated the scene, 36-year-old Darren Chase Bowling checked into a local hospital with a gunshot wound to his arm. Police say Bowling cooperated with officers and told police that he was the owner of the abandoned vehicle, but was unable to provide a description of the individual responsible for the shooting.
According to police, officers believe multiple people were present at the time of the shooting but no one else has been identified
Officers say a home in the area was also struck by the gunfire, but nobody was hurt.
Bowling was transported to a Tulsa hospital for treatment and is expected to recover from his injuries.
