A Kellyville man has been battling COVID-19 complications in the hospital for more than seven months.

Kim Crall said there have been several times in the past seven months they didn't think her husband, Rodney, would survive.

Crall said Rodney is a loving husband, father, and grandfather. She said he's also a fighter.

Rodney tested positive for COVID-19 on Dec. 26. A week later, he woke up with 105-degree fever.

"He didn't want to go to the hospital because he had been watching all of the news,” Crall said. “And it was: drop them off at the hospital, and you die alone and that's what he thought.”

Crall said the past seven months have been a roller coaster.

Crall said Rodney was placed in the intensive care unit where he was on a ventilator for 75 days and in a coma for 22 days. He's had 10 surgeries, in total.

"The COVID not only affected his colon, his kidneys, his lungs and his liver, but it took over that colon," Crall said.

Crall said her husband is the strongest person she knows, and he's starting to get better.

Crall said Rodney can now move his left arm a little and is determined to walk again.

"He tells me, he says, ‘I'm a miracle,’” Crall said. “He says, ‘if anybody gets anything from this, he says God's not through with me yet.’”

Crall never expected this to be something she’d go through, but the care and love from doctors and nurses have been incredible.

She is also thankful for their community and how so many people have stepped up to help.

"Everybody knows who Rodney is, and they want to know how he's doing, and I'm grateful they all reach out to me and I try to stay in touch," Crall said.

Crall said Rodney hopes to move to a rehab facility soon where he will go through extensive therapy to gain more strength to walk again.
