Tulsa Track Star Finds Success After Long Road Of Setbacks

Kallista Frye’s life journey is a lot like the track oval she runs around. Plenty of windy turns and miles along the way. The Tulsa native not only found a place to belong, but also a home.

Kallista Frye’s life journey is a lot like the track she runs around, with plenty of winding turns along the way.

The Tulsa native not only found a skill she excels at but also a home.

How long would you wait in life to do something you love and find a place to call home Victory Christian’s Kallista Fry waited 6 years of her life to find both growing up in Haiti she was an orphan until she was 12 years old.

"I didn't come to the US until I was 12 so everything is kind of new to me I had to catch up," said, Victory Christian Track Athlete Kallista Frye.

There was setback after setback following problems with an adoption agency. There were even claims the agency was fraudulent and the FBI was ordered to investigate.

"There are things I had to go thru other kids don't have to go thru there are certain things I get I like being different and I feel like that's my advantage," said Frye. "I won the 100 at the state track meet and I got second in the 200," said, Frye.

Her journey in finding a place to call home has taught her lessons not only in track but in life.

"To be a great track runner it takes time you have to be patient cause you’re not always going to be winning me having to wait 6 years to come here it taught me patients so here I’m," said, Frye.
