The start of the college football season officially underway for the Golden Hurricane as Tulsa held its first day of fall camp Wednesday morning.

There are plenty of weapons returning on offense and new quarterback under center for the start of a new season for the Golden Hurricane.

There will be a new face will be leading the Golden Hurricane offense: redshirt junior Davis Brin.

"I thought Davis did, what Davis does execute at a good level, take what they give you when you have an opportunity to push the ball down the field, he hit a couple of those," said Tulsa Head Coach Philip Montgomery.

Brin's backup, Seth Boomer, was wearing a hand brace at practice Wednesday morning, but he's been cleared to play after suffering a season-ending leg injury against Tulane last year.

Montgomery is taking it easy with his star running back Shamari Brooks but said that Brooks will be ready when the season begins.

"We are just going to be smart with him. We know what Shamari brings to the table, obviously with the knee injury last year, he has worked out all summer and he has done all the change of direction things.,” Montgomery said. “We just want to be smart so we are going to use him when we can and bring him back in a good pace without just throwing it all at him.”

Wednesday was also the first chance to see former Holland Hall linebacker Owen Ostroski in a Tulsa uniform - and he's already making an impression on Montgomery.

"He’s got a good motor. He is strong as all get out, I mean it's unbelievable the amount of strength that he brings to the table and what he has done in the weight room this summer, so we will see how that translates when you start pushing on big guys," said Montgomery.

TU hosts UC Davis on September 2 to open the 2021 season.
