A new exhibit is now open at the J.M. Davis Arms and Historical Museum honoring Oklahoma legend Roy Clark.
"This new exhibit, The Life of Roy Clark, is really about his entire life. We all know about his musical career and we can all do Pickin' and Grinnin' and all that, but this guy was amazing, and he was an amazing citizen for the city of Tulsa," said J.M. Davis Arms and Historical Museum Executive Director Wayne McCombs.
His career achievements are evident in the exhibit but there are also little details of Roy Clark's hobbies, the things he did for fun.
"I thought I knew all about his career and his days on the 1960s Jimmy Dean Show that really got him national publicity and things like that,” McCombs said. “I didn't know he was a pilot; I didn't know he was a race car driver.”
Roy's love of baseball is represented, as well as some of his outfits.
"This is one of my favorites, I always wanted to own a pair of Hee Haw overalls," said McCombs, laughing.
The plan is for this exhibit to be here in Claremore for about a year.
