Free school supplies will be available in Tulsa Saturday morning during a back-to-school event.

The Tulsa Police Community Engagement Unit is partnering with La Cosecha/The Harvest and Joy In The Cause for a back-to-school bash. It will be a drive-thru event happening at Iglesia Hispana Victory at 41st and Highway 169.

The backpacks are full of school supplies to help students kick off the new school year with everything they need. When families pick up their backpack, they can also get groceries, hot dogs and sno cones.

Everything at the back-to-school bash is free.

The event is open to everyone, but children must be present to receive a backpack. Organizers said they are glad to meet the needs of the community during such a difficult time.

“There's a lot of unexpected expenses for the families and then preparing for school, you know, for sure, it's hard,” said La Cosecha/The Harvest CEO Rita Gallardo.

The event will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday and continue until supplies run out.
