Data from the Oklahoma Education Department shows students enrolled in virtual schools last year were less likely to sit down for state testing, which had to be taken in person.
About 91% of students took the state test this spring, but state data shows that at virtual schools the participation rate ranges from as low as 31% to 83%.
Most Epic Charter Schools had participation rates in the 40s.
In a statement, EPIC says "10's of thousands of families came to EPIC last year because they wanted remote learning during the pandemic, so it's no surprise that their preference showed itself during state testing."
