Broken Arrow Police are searching for leads Tuesday evening after they found a 72-year-old woman dead in her home near 81st and Aspen Sunday night.
Police say they found Linda Davenport after a family member got worried they hadn’t heard from her in days. They say there were clear signs of trauma.
“That kicked off a long-term investigation. This one is going to take a while. It’s Tuesday now and we are still gathering information,” said Officer Chris Walker with Broken Arrow Police.
Police say found an unsecured door at the home and Linda dead inside.
Officers say they aren’t sure right now if someone broke into the home and they’re relying on the physical evidence found in the house.
“Our detectives have been working tirelessly since Sunday night,” said Walker. “Our technical investigators were on scene for over 9 hours, that day and have been working to process evidence ever since.
This is the fifth homicide this year in Broken Arrow, a city that normally averages two a year. Officers say they understand neighbors are concerned.
“It’s a scary deal. Their neighbor has been a victim of a homicide, and we don’t have a whole lot going on. So we are asking the public if they know anything about this case, to call us. Your heartbreaks, your heartbreaks. I mean you can picture your own family in this situation,” said Walker.
If you have any information at all that you think can help, call Broken Arrow Police or Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
