Students at Tulsa's Little Light House got a Christmas surprise on Wednesday! US Cellular made Something Good happen by buying five thousand dollars worth of toys and letting students pick one to take home!
Walking into Little Lighthouse is like walking into one of the happiest places in Tulsa and today is no different.
"We say it all the time- this is the happiest place on earth. People say it is Disneyworld, but it is not. It is right here at the Little Lighthouse in Tulsa. Every day we just get to come in and let these kids be kids," said Sara Massey with Little Lighthouse.
US Cellular bought five thousand dollars worth of toys to give out to students at Little Lighthouse.
"Our manager purchased all of these items himself- and that took several days to be able to find them in stock and get the right items, so we have a good mix for different genders, different types of motor skills, different interests," said Micayla Carlson with US Cellular.
The toys were organized by motor-skill level so therapists and teachers could easily find what works best for each child.
Seeing this many toys, and this many friends can be overwhelming for some of these kids.
"We broke it down into intervals today, so we have one class coming in at a time," said Massey, "They have their teachers and their therapists who are coming in with them and helping to guide them."
This is what the holidays are all about, giving back and spreading joy. The thing is, these kids are always joyful, always loving, always kind. Maybe we should all learn to be a little more like them.
"This isn't just the highlight of my day; it is the highlight of the season. Just to see kids come into a room and pick whatever present they want, see them laugh, see how happy they are," said Carlson.
