Two 13-year-old boys were killed in two separate shootings less than a week apart.
One boy was shot at an apartment complex Monday morning. The other was shot at a different apartment complex on Wednesday. So far no arrests have been made, but Tulsa Police say they've made progress.
Detectives have been working since early this morning to find out what led to a shooting at the Savanna Landing Apartments near 61st and Peoria.
"I mean it’s really tragic, especially when there are children," said TPD Officer Andre Baul.
"These are two individuals who we are not going to be able to see grow up. They’re not going to be able to grow into adulthood to see what they may have become."
Police say witnesses heard shots from two guns. Monday afternoon homicide detectives went back to the apartment complex to look through security camera footage. TPD is also working to find out why another 13-year-old was shot at the Park View Terrace Apartments Wednesday night.
"They have a few people that they are still talking to, still trying to gather a little bit more info on," Baul said.
In both cases - officer Baul says detectives have had trouble getting reliable information from witnesses. He encourages anyone who may have seen or heard something about either of these cases to come forward.
"You can help that person, you can help that family by helping us try to solve these crimes, these heinous crimes," Baul said.
Police have not released the names of any possible suspects, but Baul believes they're getting close to the first murder.
