Man Charged In Federal Court For Making Destructive Device

A 19 year-old man has been charged in federal court, after police found an explosive device in a car during a traffic stop in Broken Arrow.

Zane Bennett is charged with illegally making a destructive device.

The affidavit said he admitted to making the device in a hotel room.

Police took an X-Ray of the device, which shows he used fireworks, fishhooks, metal screws and rivets.

Investigators said Bennet told police he planned to blow up watermelons with it and did not intend to hurt anyone.

However, police said it could have hurt or even killed someone who was nearby if it exploded.
