The last wave of our winter storm is exiting eastern Oklahoma early Friday morning.
Here are the details from News On 6 Meteorologist Alan Crone:
The last band of snow will exit the area early Friday morning but will produce some additional snow accumulations near 1 inch in a few locations. This will add more snow cover to roadways on Friday morning. Additional snowfall from this wave has resulted in total accumulations between 5 to 8 inches of snow across the eastern third of the state. A few spots across Northwestern Arkansas will reach over 9 inches in localized areas. As the system accelerates away from the state, sky cover will clear allowing sunshine to return for most of the area. Northwest winds from 10 to 15 mph will be likely for most of the day. Low wind chill values will once again stick around for the day. Afternoon highs are expected in the upper 20s with afternoon wind chills in the teens.
The broad snowpack across the area will keep temperatures colder than they normally would be for the weekend. We have continued to lower these variables from most computer model guidance. Saturday morning lows will begin in the single digits making Saturday morning the coldest start of the winter season to date for some spots. South winds return Saturday afternoon with sunshine and highs reaching the mid-30s north and upper 30s to near 40 south. A weak wind shift occurs Sunday but with little impact. Morning lows in the 20s will move into the upper 30s and lower 40s by afternoon. A moderate warming trend will remain early next week with afternoon highs reaching the mid-40s Monday and mid to upper 50s Tuesday. A progressive northwest flow pattern brings several disturbances over the next 7 days with little in the way of sensible weather changes.
Thanks for reading the Friday morning weather discussion and blog.
Have a safe and super great day!
