Jenks Public Schools is asking voters to pass two bond issues on February 8th, totaling more than $14 million.
The district said the bonds will help for day-to-day needs and also help pay for renovations at the Freshman Academy.
Allan Trimble Stadium will also benefit from the bond issue if voters pass it, with an investment for a new video board, and a new artificial turf that has to be replaced every 8-10 years.
"That stadium is used by much more than just football. It's marching band that's out there, our soccer teams use that, lacrosse teams use that, so it's a multi-use facility and a lot of students, a lot of different teams will benefit from that turf being replaced, when it is,” district spokesperson Rob Loeber said.
Loeber said another big project is the third and final phase of the expansion and renovation work for the Freshman Academy.
"That building was actually designed to be an elementary school,” Loeber said. “And so it needs to be completely renovated and changed and be upgraded to better suit teenagers and 9th graders."
Some other day-to-day expenses the bond would help pay for are supplies like textbooks, technology and printers.
A separate bond issue also on the ballot on February 8th is strictly for transportation, which Loeber said will help buy new school busses to keep the fleet updated.
"This really does impact every student, at every grade level. Every single one of our school sites and departments benefits from these bond dollars,” he said.
The district said approving the two bonds will not increase property taxes.
